Riot Police Shut Down 'Drunken-Student Riot'

Around 400 people were involved in a riot happened in the town of Eugene, Oregon when a tailgate party spilled into a riot in the streets last Friday. Police put down what they described as a quot;drunken-student riotquot; consisting of about 400 young people, mainly students from the University of Oregon. Local police have to call back-up law enforcement from Lane County Sheriff?s Office, Springfield police department and Oregon state police to tamed the raucous crowd. At least nine people were arrested. Officers on patrol late Friday night and encountered several large parties that had spilled into the streets. The hard part was when the drunk partiers were destroying private property, including smashing car windows, and others were pulling down street signs, according to a police press release. Officers got the situation under control shortly after midnight, according to a police statement.
