Ukraine: Protesters unveil the terrifying potato cannon

Anti-government activists used potato cannons to fire at security forces in Kiev on Friday. The cannons are built from pipes and activists use hair spray and other aerosols to fill the interior with gas before lighting it. This launches potatoes at high speeds that can result in life-threatening injuries. Evgeny Karas, an anti-government protester, said "potatoes are heavy and fly beautifully." The cannon can also be modified to fire other material, as Karas explained: "I think that we will probably make packets with, my apologies, shit inside. Then we'll present this to bad people who take up arms against civilians."
