Large and Destructive Florida Tornado forms right in front of driver

Happened yesterday 12 December 2012 during an unusual winter weather disturbance here. About 90 homes were damaged at Terra Mar Village, a community of about 200 mobile homes. Five were destroyed and 40 sustained major damaged at the community between Edgewater and Oak Hill, according to an estimate by the Volusia Property Appraiser's Office. The storm cost an estimated $1.7 million in damage.The tornado touched down and traveled for a mile, from U.S. Highway 1 to the Indian River, cutting a path of destruction through Terra Mar. Two people suffered minor scrapes, Volusia County officials said. It lasted only a minute, barely enough time for people to run for cover, as the speedy funnel cloud uprooted laurel oak trees, peeled away aluminum roofs and blew through countless windows and porches. Tornadoes also struck Birmingham Alabama and Lousiana.
